1. Type C/Thunderbolt 3 to mini Displayport Cable is compatible with DP alt mode that not support phones or tablets except Galaxy S8/S8+, Note 8, LGG5, Mate10. As most of other USB-C smartphones and tablets work with MHL or SlimPort solution
2. Mini DisplayPort to type C cable allows to use with monitor/TV/projector with the mini Displayport connector, but it can't work with Thunderbolt 2. Thunderbolt port has "lightning bolt" icon, while mini DisplayPort ports have "display" icon. There is a difference between their ports and icons. More details, you can refer the third picture
